Reject cynicism.
Defy apathy
Celebrate good.
Legendary graphic designer and illustrator Bob Gill once said, “There is no such thing as a bad client. Part of our job is to do good work and get the client to accept it.” This statement deeply resonates with me. In the creative services industry (emphasis on service) it’s our job to listen to our clients and create solutions for them to solve their business challenges. Easy, right? Sometimes.
Admittedly, design is highly subjective. What appears simple and elegant (a wordmark for example) may have been the result of a complex process — one only a mature designer and seasoned professional could concept, communicate, and execute.
In the spirit of Bob Gill’s statement, I’d like to share some of the good work that clients have accepted in 2022 and give you a glimpse into the creative work we do at BitterSweet Creative.
In the second part of 2021, Tech Coalition approached BitterSweet Creative to reimagine their website. This organization unites the global tech industry to protect children online from sexual exploitation and abuse. They had just undergone a rebrand and needed a creative partner to extend the visual design to the web.
BitterSweet Creative, alongside trusted partners created a visually striking, modern and responsive website design — developing the backend on CraftCMS — our preferred content management system. The website has been designed and developed with a modular, flexible layout that makes it easy to stand-up new, rich pages on the fly with little effort. Spend some time browsing Tech Coalition’s new website and let us know what you think!
Many of our foundation and global development clients publish frequent reports for their members, leadership, and industry audiences. These reports are a culmination of years of work and research by these teams, and it’s our privilege to be a part of the design process and launch of the content. Here are a few samples of report projects we worked on in 2022.
The Wheatley Institute at Brigham Young University asked BitterSweet Creative to help their team imagine a brand that represents their new vision for the future and honors their past and leadership. We’re excited to see this brand in the world.
For a handful of clients, BitterSweet has been engaged as a trusted creative partner to see through multiple creative pursuits – from simple graphic design projects, publications, event experience and design, email marketing, webinars, communications strategy, video production, and more. We connect the dots between mediums while keeping a holistic view of the brand and business goals. Below is just a sampling of the work we did for Stand Together Foundation.
The Stand Together Podcast is a podcast for people who care about tackling the biggest challenges facing our country. Huge shout out to BitterSweet’s executive producers Obiekwe “Obi” Okolo and Robert Winship and everyone who came together to create this rich listening experience.
From hardscape design to vinyl wrapped airstreams and graffiti wall activations, our team had a blast creating memorable event experiences throughout the year.
Kate Schmidgall and Brandon Bray deserve major credit on this series. BitterSweet created a fun and engaging video series to teach nonprofit leaders Market Based Management. Watch the full videos here.
Finally, this one is a company win. This year we hosted our 2nd Annual Invitational Story Festival in Washington, DC. We had a record breaking number of film and photography submissions and produced event from sight to sound at the incredible Autoshop location located in the Union Market area of town.
Congratulations to our film winner Good Day directed by Tristan Taylor and our photography winner Early Years by Douglas Flores.
Thanks for following along with our work. We celebrate these projects with our clients and team and look forward to what’s in store for 2023.
